AIDS CARE - Bridge Volunteers

The AIDS CARE Bridge Program is still looking for outstanding volunteers to be part of their volunteer transportation pool. Bridge volunteers help friends & neighbors living with HIV by providing essential transportation to medical appointments and short errands. Being a Bridge volunteer is fun, and gives you a chance to do something very concrete to help a person living with HIV. The time requirement is rarely more than a couple hours a week.

To learn more about the above programs or to volunteer contact Court Cline at 586.8288 x2  or email him at aidscarevols@cooley-dickinson.org

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hampshire County

Craft Fair Volunteers: The second Saturday of each July finds the Amherst Town Common miraculously converted from a beautiful field to an amazing Craft Fair City.  We are always looking for volunteer helpers for this one day event. Take a 2 - 3 hour shift anywhere from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Buddies Club: This group meets every Wednesday afternoon in Northampton. It is an opportunity for the Little Brothers and Sisters who attend the Jackson Street School to get together and enjoy all sorts of fun activities. If you are inclined to play along with youngsters while offering some supervision of their activities, you could be the perfect volunteer for this group.

Program Sponsored Events: These are activities planned by the program for the Bigs and Littles to enjoy together. Some of these events include the Littles' families as well. We need help with cooking and setting up and breaking down.

Activities for Bigs and Littles: The volunteers and children who participate in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program are always looking out for great things to do. Perhaps a group you belong to would be interested in hosting an event for Bigs and Littles to enjoy.

Free or discounted tickets or passes can be donated, allowing the Bigs and Littles access to local events, performances, movies or restaurants. This could be the first opportunity for a Little Brother or Sister to get to see a ballet or go to a museum or to attend a concert.

Office Support: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hampshire County is a small program with lots to do. Do you have office skills or just some extra time to share? We sure could use some extra hands in the office to help with mailings, flyering, and other projects.

The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts

Special Events:  Help us plan or carry out fundraising events.  Staff a Food Bank table at a festival.  Help sell our holiday cards.

Brown Bag:  Volunteers help one weekday morning a month unloading the truck, bagging the food, and/or delivering bags to homebound seniors.

The Food Bank Farm:  We need help from May through November, weekdays and weekends.  Individuals are welcome anytime without prior contact. We accept volunteers Monday-Friday from 8-5 and Saturday from 8-noon. If you have any questions please call 413-582-0013 or email foodbankfarmvolunteers@gmail.com.

Office:  We always need volunteers in the office to help with mailings, phone calls, computer projects, graphic design, and the other behind-the-scenes work that keeps the organization on track.  We have a special need for volunteers with computer skills, but have many projects for low-tech folks as well.

Salvage Room:  "Salvage" is food that that is perfectly good to eat but can't be sold, often because the can or box is dented.  Volunteers inspect and sort it out in our warehouse.  Weekday and evening shifts are available.
